I think this image came from a black and white photograph in a vintage National Geographic magazine, it looks like grass on a plain blowing in the dark, little dots of 24 carat gold leaf are added on top.
Whilst playing with scale one day, I decided to make collages in miniature to wear. Designs made from found papers, old graphics, Letraset, vintage magazines – anything really, to produce these mixed media artworks. Silver and gold leaf are sometimes added and generous layers of varnish go on top.
The coins seemed an ideal surface to place the works on as they had the right weight required for jewellery, were quirky and easily available. Comes with a fine sterling silver chain and gift pouch.
They are fragile – so mustn’t be worn in water – they won’t survive.
